There is an extremely small number of women around the globe who will selfishly wonder what all the fuss about thigh fat is! This 5 percent or so of women are those very fortunate souls who will never suffer from an accumulation of fat in their hip, thigh and bum area as they grow older due to their much lower estrogen levels.
Unfortunately, the remaining 95% of women, and there is a good chance both you and I will fall into this category as I’m writing this article and you’re reading it, will have to face the inevitable and look at ways to keep this accumulation of fat to an absolute minimum.
The main reason why women get fat in the thighs, butt and hips and men gain weight predominantly in their abdominal cavity is due to the difference in genes and chromosomes, although men will gain weight in these other regions the more obese they become.
There is also a theory that you may have inherited the ability to store fat deposits from your ancestors. In times when food was scarce your ancestors, whose bodies were able to store fat deposits the best survived, whereas those women who were not so good, unfortunately died.
Another reason for the accumulation of thigh fat (and pretty much everywhere else too!) is an individual’s personal habits. If you eat the wrong types of food, take little, if any, exercise and spend long periods of time sitting watching the TV or on the PC it is highly likely that you will start to put on quite a bit of weight, of which a good percentage will end up firmly based on your hips, thighs and butt!
What is the best way to get rid of thigh fat?
First of all, forget any notion of targeting your thigh fat for weight loss! Targeted weight loss is a complete nonsense! There is absolutely no proof, scientific or otherwise, that targeted weight loss is achievable. So, now we have that out the way, the best way to achieve weight loss on your thighs is to use a combination of a good exercise program and a healthy diet plan.
